The Lion's Daughter "Shame on Us All"

Hell yeah! The latest effort of the St. Louis band, The Lion's Daughter, one of the most underrated bands out there, is now available as "name your price". Nevertheless, that's no reason for you to no support them. Buy some of their shit here. "Shame on Us All" is a powerful storm of apocalyptic, dirty and furious decibels. Prepare to get your ass kicked.

Depravation "I​:​PRAEDICTVM"

Depravation are a metallic hardcore band from Germany and they have just released their first Demo entitled "I​:​PRAEDICTVM". Introducing two bestial tracks of the most furious metallic hardcore and an instrumental track, "Praedictvm", which is served almost as an outro. Back on the first two tracks, the opening track, "Wrath", really makes justice to it's name. What starts with some killer black metal riffs soon morphs into this metallic hardcore beast that reminds me allot like acts from the past like Morning Again, Disembodied, Arkangel, that breed of bands... what turns out to be a good thing, at least for me. Seeing that, intentionally or not, Depravation are reviving this kind of sound into nowadays, is really good. It brings out that nostalgia from the past when i used to hear a lot of bands like the ones i've just quoted. So far so good. "Ruins Of Mankind" another moshing track where the band spills all their hate upon mankind, filled with some killer riffage and some poisonous vocal work. After all of this hate essay, the Demo is closed with is just an ambient/atmospheric track where we get some sort of a celestial peace lying above the ashes caused by all of that war on the first two tracks. A good Demo that really deserved some more tracks. Let us wait and see what the band will come up with in the near future. Released and limited to 50 copies, the Demo tape (25 white / 25 black ; each with different covers; handnumbered with human blood) is being released in CD (with a very cool packaging) you can be proud to own by buying it here. BIIPIIGWAN "Nibaak" EP

Wow.. so after that climax with the new Ignivomous and Lord Mantis, here are some chilling tunes from BIIPIIGWAN. Presenting their new EP called "Nibaak" (don't ask me what does it mean) following their 2010's debut with "God's Hooks". If you know this band by now then you'll know what to expect: noisy, loud, devastating Canadian sludge. It's equivalent by being hit in the face by some real pissed grizzly bear's paw, listen to it below and you'll see what i mean.

Skinfather, The Hunger & They Are All Dead

In for more of that dark hardcore? Yes? Ok, let's go.

From Orange County, California, come Skinfather. This quintet delivers 5 tracks of the most evil and furious hardcore, each tracks weights like a fuckin' ton and leads us into the realms of that abyss where the most vicious hardcore lies hidden. It reminds me a lot of Integrity but with more elaborated passages or a slower, sludgiers version of All Out War. So i guess that's cool.. uhn?

The Hunger is a relatively new hardcore band from the north of the Netherlands. Their sound can be best described as extremely heavy hardcore with a rocking twist. Influenced by bands as integrity, Ringworm, Cursed, Converge, Entombed and much, much more, you surely can get an idea. This band has been around for a couple years but i only discovered them a few weeks ago. I must confess i really enjoyed this 7''. Their sound reminds me a lot of Black Ships, Black Haven or even Rise And Fall. I just wish they would launch some new stuff soon.

Next are They Are All Dead. A more heavy and powerful proposal. These guys come from San Francisco and this "Corporate EP" was launched in April 2011. These guys deliver Grind, Crust, Hardcore, you name it.. they will do it, really heavy. That's the key ingredient to their formula. Grind all the way...

El Ego

El Ego are a metal band from right next door, Spain. I refuse to use the tag "Melodic Death Metal" because i really hate this label... C'mon, "Melodic" and "Death Metal"?? What's so melodic about Death Metal? Moving on.. This is their debut album from 2009 called "Winds Of Glory". In my opinion it is quite a good release, even better than their latest "We've Been Dead Before" released this year. One of the things i like in this album is the sound, it's really good. I love the guitar tones and drumming. The production is also quite good. You will surely notice on their sound some influences from bands as At The Gates, Disfear and also The Great Deceiver. The instrumentals are also remarkable in this underrated release. "Winds Of Glory" is one of those albums i have in my iPod that when i stumble upon, i can't stop listening to it until the end. "Winds Of Glory is a shot of pure adrenalin, you just can't stop headbangin'.. trust me.

Hellcrawler

Here's a killer request that dropped in my mailbox some days ago. Hellcrawler are a metallic d-beat/crust n' roll band from Slovenia and with their full length "Wastelands" they give us their own personal vision of a devastated post apocalyptical world. The album kicks i with an epic intro, from what better movie to illustrate this album? Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.. fuck yeah! So prepare yourself for fire, self made leather jackets, spikes, knives and war!! Without truces, Hellcrawler, delivers in exactly 30 minutes a vicious slab of raw crust n'roll with some interludes in the middle like "Wastelands" and the epic ending outro "Demons Within" but also some Motorhead/Venom/Doom worship in "Motosluts From Hell". In overhaul, "Wastelands" is a solid release that will certainly satisfy the hunger for those into this genre. "Wastelands" is available for free in digital format but also in a digipack cd and they're looking for someone willing to release it on wax. Midnight

Disembodied

In the late '90s every hardcore band started their set the same way. The band prepped up gear and stretched for the exercise ahead of them while the singer jumped around like a motivational speaker with its head cut off, squawking about the scene and their major crush for each band that played before them. But not Disembodied, they were the odd band out in the era of zines and distros. Their sets began with a swelling, a growling of the bass, and when the whole band came in there was nothing positive screamed-Disembodied were the dark side of hardcore.

"If God Only Knew The Rest Were Dead", released in 1998 by Ferret Records, began with the same building and dissidence of anger as Disembodied did live. Each of the five songs lyrically painted a different type of failure of hope over a world-ending scenario. The darkness of the EP left Disembodied in a very small club of hardcore. There were no basketball jerseys worn in this club.

For many these days chuggy thumpy hardcore seems like a punch line to a joke, but some bands, and some records stand to be revisited-and you know what, some should be celebrated. "If God Only Knew The Rest Were Dead" is one of those records. I can only imagine that, if this was released today, people would call it "sludge" or something like that... sorry to disappoint you kids. This band introduced me to a whole new world of metallic hardcore. This is a personal rip of mine so i hope you enjoy it.

Will Haven

Yes.. it is. Holy shit, i even got goosebumps when i saw this. "Voir Dire" is the brand new album of California's Will Haven that marks the return of the original singer, Grady, to the band (i kinda the performance of Jeff Jaworski on "The Hierophant"). The album also features Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehnhandling on bass, following the departure of Mike Martin, who left the group to focus on family life. I don't care, what i care is that this is heavy as fuck... really. According to a press release, “Voir Dire” builds upon the bands great sonic history but is by far the biggest, most ominous, riff-laden Will Haven release to date. Just be prepared when the walls close in... highly fucking recommended!

The Lion's Daughter

The Lion's Daughter come from St Louis, and play some heavy and noisy hardcore with sludge and other metal influences! This band caught my eye with the "Forgotten Masters" EP (you can get it for free here). This band is cool, in general there's nothing original here, but the songs are really good. Just play the track "The Horror of Existence" really loud and you'll see what i mean.

Hate Ensemble

I got this email the other day by Austin from the band Hate Ensemble, these bunch of rockers began writing songs around late winter-early spring of 2011, as of now the band consists as a 4-piece. Initially, they were all going for a sound with heavy influence of bands such as: Obituary, Cro-Mags, Demolition Hammer, Integrity along the lines of those bands. Recently they've been working on some new material not recorded yet. Its more mid-tempo all around in the songs with distorted blues rifts. As for this past spring and summer, Hate Ensemble played several shows within the Philly, Jersey, and New York area. The sound of Hate Ensemble reminds me a bit of Lords, maybe a little Akimbo, Ghostlimb, all mixed together with some sludgy riffs.. They are rolling, feeling confident and there's no reason for them to slow down in the future.. i sure hope they never slow down. Show some love and at least buy them guys a beer on their bandcamp.

Suffering Quota

Bolas.. tenho mesmo que começar uma rubrica dedicada a bandas descobertas pelo bandcamp. Esta é mais uma delas, Suffering Quota. Vindos de Groningen, Países-Baixos, consiste em quatro veteranos vindos da cena hardcore e metal. Esta Demo arrebatou-me por completo. Que poder. O som é bruto, qual pontapé na face, o som traz-me à cabeça bandas como Nasum, Rotten Sound ou Phobia. Como a banda aliás refere:

“We all like good music, whether it’s the hardcore from His Hero Is Gone and Cursed, grindcore from Assück (of course) and Phobia, the ‘screamo’ from Orchid or the death metal from Entombed or that once so famous ‘Bremen’ style from bands like Systral. We like it all. We even like punkrock as well! Eh… except the whimpy kind ofcourse!”
