Encoffination & Grave Upheaval

Another killer split between two of the most sickest death metal bands around, Encoffination and Grave Upheaval. Each band delivers one track as if they were played straight out of the tombs. The smell of cadaver is still fresh on this one.. thanks to my buddy Sanakan from the awesome Equivoke. Encoffination, who have just released one of the heaviest death metal albums of the year, bring another monumental, atmospheric doom death anthem, while Grave Upheaval offer their debut vinyl appearance, abyssal death metal gospel with obscure vibe of doom metal. HKY

HKY is a french atmospheric sludge band formed by members from other unknown bands such as Immemorial, Warsawwarsaw, Every Reason To… and Altess, what they play is a really loud and heavy atmosphere that reminds me of bands like Rorcal, Switchblade, Monarch or even the older stuff from Isis. I really super recommend these dudes, if you are looking for some really loud riffs and beats mounted in a post-metal atmosphere. 4 tracks, more than 7 minutes each song, a really big trip you have to check out. Harvey Milk

Harvey Milk is one of those bands that have been here for years.. have a bunch of albums but, for some reason i can't explain i never listened to them until their 2007 release "My Love Is Higher Than Your Assessment Of What My Love Could Be", although this release didn't grew on me the same thing didn't happened with 2010's "A Small Turn Of Human Kindness".. the sound of this specific record, man.. The riffs, that howling voice in despair... damn. I really love this album, some might hate it.. but that's life. This album just made me look back in their discography and dig deeper to their sound. "Small Turn.." riffs are thrown into the atmosphere like some funereal doom chords that hang in the air like stink and just stay there while frontman Creston Spiers, with his unique and recognizable voice tone, strange howls reaches heights of lowness. Too bad Preston is out but still, with this album, the band continues to refine their mixture of heavy riffage, sheer noise, and unexpected detours into introspection and delicate, emotional instrumentalism. I'm prety sure that this album will please every sludge fans who aren't familiar to the band's work.

Ossarivm

It's time to demonstrate some of my patriotism and share some of the best that is made here in Portugal. This came as a request from the underground label Latrina do Chifrudo (in english it means something like Latrine of the Horned One) and little did they know that we speak the same language. Ossarivm is a one man band hailing from Porto, Portugal and in this EP "Emanation" we are unblessed to have 3 themes forged by the horned beast itself. Three darkened ritualistic songs to summon the Lord of Darkness. Indeed some of the best material ever made here... worship the beast! 666!!

Indesinence

Indesinence are a death/doom band i discovered just last week, and man.. it was love at first sight. And i've been listening the whole album in loop since then. It just makes me think of the vastness of bands that surely would please my ears that are buried out there. Whether the band is old or new i don't care, what i care is that "Neptunian" is one hell of a release. For those who don't know Indesinence features current and past members of bands such as Grave Miasma, Adorior, Esoteric, Pantheist and Cruciamentum. "Neptunian" delivers around 42 minutes of crushing heaviness and brooding, gloomy sombre atmospheres. I've read that this is a "must have" for any fans of Unholy, Evoken and dISEMBOWELMENT! So check them out. Buy this here or here.

Ash Eaters

"The Cruel Side" EP is the brand new release of ex-Brown Jenkins duo Ash Eaters. Two songs about 8 minutes each, with cold xasthurian guitars and freaking soul sucking vocals. Sound pretty much like the "Cold Hearts" Demo but i can tell that there's some progression in the structure of the songs. Bunkur

There's funeral doom, there's extreme funeral doom, and then there's Bunkur. These guys could easily be claimed as a music genre.. wait, did i said music? These guys just love to stretch it as far as patience ends. This is not an album for the mere doom listener (Warning: This is not an album for the mere doom listener) This one is only for the hardcore doomsters out there, in particular those who have the time and patience to witness a single track lasting over an hour which features some of the most overwhelmingly depressive, bleak and despondent doom metal to ever be captured in plastic. It's difficult to find the words to describe the utterly desolate landscape this album portrays, oh man.. where to start?  

Featuring some of the most saturated distortion ever to be used on a guitar, it froths upon each chord struck, crackling and fizzing in its sustain between notes, slowly coming down on you like a lead weight sapping all signs of buoyancy from the room. Even the fucking birds will stop singing outside, and you might even catch a few purposely flying into windows to end their pitiful existence. Extended ear-piercing feedback rings out throughout between notes, echoing with accompanying screams and howls of sheer anxiety and gut-wrenching desperation. The minimalist drums offer some substantiation of rhythm, but in the main they reverberate behind each chord that's battered out, with a fading beat between each crushing guitar explosion. 

The earth slowly tearing itself apart, continents flaking away from their tectonic plates, floating away from mother earth into the stratosphere before the whole planet implodes on itself leaving nothing but detritus as a pale reminder of humankind. It's "Bludgeon", love it or hate it. You think you can handle it?

Hexis

Are you in for the most vicious, blackened and torturous blend of hardcore and metal you ever heard in your miserable life? Here is the brand new Hexis 7'' entitled simply "X". This is heavy, heavy, heavy.. like if the doors of Hell have been opened and all the demons inside have been unleashed upon the Earth. Impressive stuff here.. Highly Recommended! The band had the pleasure to release this as "Name You Price" at their Bandcamp. But they really deserve a buck or two at least. Show some love to their hate.

Moss

Caught a cold, dripping nose and shit.. can't taste food. I hate this.
I think the best way to kill all these fucking germs inside of me is listening to this record, "Cthonic Rites" from the heavyweight doomsters Moss. I just hope they get a slow and painful death...
